Pearly Penile Papules

An article in eMedicine about pearly penile papules (PPP). Pearly penile papules are small dome-shaped skin-colored papules that often are located on the sulcus or corona of the glans penis. Commonly, pearly penile papules are arranged circumferentially in one or more rows. They are considered to be a normal feature and are harmless.

Pearly penile papules are not associated with personal hygiene or sexual activity. They are a benign feature and can be safely ignored. I would not get them removed because the coronal ridge has a high concentration of Meisner's corposcles, which are fine touch nerves. I would think that removing the pearly penile papules would have a high risk of reducing sensitivity of the penis.

#1 Pimples on penis

Submitted by Pearly Penile Papules (not verified) on Fri, 04/22/2011 - 5:25am.

I went to the docs thinking i had genital warts turned out they were pearly penile papules he told me they were normal and nothing could be done to remove them. Since then i have read about various methos of removal including surgical shaving and laser surgery. My question is has anyone any information on these treatments or are there anyone else out there who really wants to get rid of these eye sores.

#2 I have them, too

I have pearly penile papules, too. They are lined up along the edge of my corona. They do not bother me and I only know they are there by looking at them. They are a part of my body and I have no intention to have them removed.

Some men are very concerned about the appearance of their penis and are seeking to have them removed. I recall that a doctor show on television did a segment on PPP and featured a man who had laser surgery to have them removed. You could use Google to find out about it.

To me, the penis is first and foremost a sensitive part of the body that provides great pleasure. No way would I ever consider having someone cut or operate on my penis unless it was absolutely necessary.

Is Circumcision Going to Treat the Pearly Penile Papules?

#4 Pearly penile papules are not

Pearly penile papules are not removed by circumcision. Circumcision will remove the foreskin and expose pearly penile papules, which are located on the corona. Circumcision is not the answer to pearly penile papules.

#5 Penile Papules Removal

I haven't tried it yet, but I've read that tea tree oil, or Melaleuca alternifolia oil, is an effective natural remedy for Pearly Penile Papules. Tea tree oil is a really lovely product from Australia--it tingles and smells kind of like eucalyptus, and I've used as a treatment for cuts and blisters, because it acts as an antimicrobial. Its also the main ingredient in the Derma Remedies product.
