2009 infant circumcision rate in US is 33%. Two-thirds of all babies born in 2009 are intactSay no to circumcision - support intactivism. The following list includes blogs, articles, and websites of interest to Intactivists that were published in the past week. This is a running tally of the ones I found interesting.

Slide by CDC showing 33% male infant circumcision rate in 2009, down from 56% in 2006 in the USThe high point of this week is the announcement that the male infant circumcision rate has dropped well below 50%.  MD Consult announced that the infant circumcision rate in the US was 33% in 2009, down from 56% in 2006.

Adrian's Blog: My boy
Adrian describes the birth of his son. He was concerned that his son might be circumcised against his wishes, and he kept a close eye on his son to make sure it did not happen. Upon seeing his son's penis for the first time, he realized that circumcision would have removed almost all of the skin on the baby's penis.

Elsevier Global Medical News: U.S. Newborn Male Circumcision Rate Dropped Sharply in 2006-2009
A pro-circ study still finds that the rate of male infant circumcision in the US dropped to 33% in 2009. The infant circumcision rate was 56% in 2006. The large drop in the circumcision rate is unprecedented and very welcome to intactivists.

MD Consult: US newborn male circumcision rate dropped sharply in from 2006 to 2009
Circumcision rates for newborn boys in the United States dropped steadily and markedly over the past 4 years, based on the largest review of U.S. rates ever done. Circumcision rates fell from 56% in 2006 to 33% in 2009.

i-zeen: MGM: Male Circumcision: What are the Facts?
Article laying out the facts and history of male circumcision. Cutting the genitals of infant boys is not warranted. Medical evidence has shown that circumcision is significantly more traumatising to a baby than it is to an adult. In recent years, new medical guidelines were unanimously released by many Western health authorities, suggesting there is no medical benefit to circumcision that cannot be achieved as effectively and less invasively via other methods.

GoodHealth: Circumcision and Cervical Cancer
Circumcision was once thought to protect women from cervical cancer but we now know that this is not true. Infant circumcision is a painful procedure that has no medical benefit and should be discouraged except in special cases.

Dagbladet.no: Vil forby omskjæring av gutter (Would prohibit the circumcision of boys)
Norwegian article advocating against circumcision. As expected, a Jewish doctor says the criticism against circumcision is unreasonable and disrespectful against ancient traditions. She does not say that circumcision is disrespectful against the child whose genitalia is being cut. Translation here.
