Intactivism: Week in Review November 14, 2009

by Tally on November 14, 2009 Bookmark and Share

This is a new feature for me. Every week I will post blogs, articles, and websites of interest to Intactivists. Many are writing about routine infant circumcision and why they are not choosing it for their sons. It is often hard to keep track of them all, or to even find them. Here are the ones I like.

Today: Video on circumcision
A reasonably balanced television segment on circumcision, including an interview with Georgeanne Chapin of Intact America

HIV/AIDS Skepticism: Circumcision and condom idiocies

DrMomma: peaceful parenting: Patti Ramos: Circumcision Photos
A LOT of good comments. The pictures are not visible here. A link is provided to the Ramos site.

Patti Ramos: Circumcision Photographs
A series of pictures of a circumcision. It starts with a closeup of a happy baby. Shows the baby boy being strapped in the circumstraint. Then his foreskin is separated from his glans and cut away to make room for the Plastibell. Near the end a soulful shot of the infant and his circumcised penis is shown. The last shot is a closeup of a baby boy with a pained expression on his face. The contrast between the first and last pictures is amazing as the infant went from a happy baby to a pained baby.

Kayce's Doula Journey: What's so Great About Granola?
A mother's change of mind upon seeing Ramos' pictures of a circumcision. This is a very powerful blog by a woman who thought her mind was made up. She was able to make the link between her cesearan and routine infant circumcision to reconsider her decision.
