Protect Children - Infant Circumcision HurtsSay no to circumcision - support intactivism. The following list includes blogs, articles, and websites of interest to Intactivists that were published in the past week. This is a running tally of the ones I found interesting.

This week has been a very light week for intactivist posts.

Ordinary Theology: Circumcision
A mother wonders about infant circumcision and if the religious sacrifice is for the parents, not the son being cut.

Patrick Rothfuss: Concerning Circumcision
A father writes about circumcision and how it is a harmful practice. He writes: "A lot of times when people meet Oot, they say things like, 'He's such a happy baby.' Or 'He's so friendly and trusting.' Sometimes I want to reply, 'Well, we got things off on the right foot by not cutting off a piece of his dick.'"

The Stir: Circumcision: A Man's Decision?
A woman takes issue with the blog post "Living the Dream: Uncircumcised in America." Without stating if she is for or against infant circumcision, the author takes issue with the blogger not wanting women to make the circumcision decision. The author is not willing to admit that circumcision is not a decision that should be made for an infant.

babble: Botched Circumcision: How a medical mistake made me question my decision
A mother describes her son's botched circumcision and how her son's penis required penoplasty to correct the mistakes of the first circumcision. Even with all her son went through, the mother does not sound too sure about the harms of circumcision.

Phallic Cymbals: Do All Women Prefer Circumcised Penises?
The author's wife prefers a circumcised dick, but many of the comments are from women who prefer intact males. This is not surprising considering that an intact penis has all of its working parts, namely the foreskin. Unfortunately, circumcision removes some of the best parts of the penis.

Cynthia's Pregnancy Diary: Circumcision: a Medical Necessity?
A mother describes her research into male infant circumcision. She decides that male infant circumcision is medically unnecessary and expensive.

Rational Skeptics Society: Male/Female Circumcision
A rational skeptic points out that it is illegal in the US to do any type of surgical cutting of a girl's genitalia, but it is acceptable to circumcise male infants. There is no reason for the disparity of treatment of the genitals between the genders.

manicstreetpreacher: Circumcision or Genital Mutilation?
Lots of information about how male infant circumcision is not warranted in today's society, but it continues.

Bangkok Post: CUTTING QUESTIONS: The facts and myths of male circumcision
An informative article accurately assessing male infant circumcision. This is a refreshing article from Bangkok that helps guide parents to leaving children intact.

Digital Journal: Police and Health Unit: No charges in labia reduction surgery
A Canadian tattoo parler owner feels that the media frenzy around labia reduction is a product of ignorance. She points out that labia reduction and clitorectomy, the type of genital mutilation performed in some countries, bear no relationship socially, physically or medically. Secondly, she notes that circumcision of a male baby boy is regularly performed, and in the case of a bris (Jewish ritual circumcision), not in a hospital setting, with little public outcry. She sees infant circumcision as "a human rights issue" and an example of gender bias and a violation of the fundamental protection provided against gender discrimination in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
