Intactivism: Week in Review February 6, 2010

Why do people want to cut the sex organs of healthy babies?Say no to circumcision - support intactivism. The following list includes blogs, articles, and websites of interest to Intactivists that were published in the past week. This is a running tally of the ones I found interesting. This week has been a light week for interesting articles discussing the harms of circumcision.

Associated Content: Health and Wellness: Circumcision Debate Continues Anew
A resonably well balanced article describing the circumcision debate. The author states that current evidence fails to recommend widespread neonatal circumcision, but includes some inaccuracies about penile cancer and UTIs.

IntactByDefault: #i2 is what, exactly?
The Twitter group #i2 is managed by IntactByDefault, a twitter who advocates against non-therapeutic infant circumcision. He also maintains the the "freedomfromcircumcision" twitter list.

DrMomma: Peaceful Parenting: Taking Down Babywise: A Hero
Information about Laura Bilbo, who is doing her best to battle the misinformation of the Babywise system.

No Circumcision: Repost of Letter to President Obama
Van Lewis wrote a letter to President Obama. The letter asks the President to "issue an executive order to stop all medically unnecessary, elective circumcision funding by US Medicaid nationwide." Van Lewis is an intactivist living in Florida.

A man in Maryville, Washington, attempts to circumcise his son with a paring knife. The family said the father had become obsessed with circumcising his son. The child's grandmother fought her son to protect the baby until the police arrived.

Restoring Tally is just an ordinary guy who had to confront his prostate and circumcision problems. This site chronicles his journey in dealing with these issues. He has had prostate surgery and he is restoring his foreskin.
